What is EDGE?

EDGE is a technology promoted by Ericsson for high speed data transfer over existing GSM networks, without the need to install new equipment -- a software upgrade is sufficient. A network converted to EDGE will allow speeds of up to 384 Kbps or higher, which is 6 times more than what can be reached with an ordinary land line modem
